Weekly Update from the Chair
Greetings, Fellow Patriots,
What a great time to be a Republican, especially in Haywood County, NC! We have moved into our new headquarters, are ready to open for business, and work on getting Republicans elected!
On Thursday, August 6th, the Haywood GOP will host other District 11 counties for a Chuck Edwards campaign session in conjunction with a repeat session of the “Just 10 More” program. If you have not yet attended the “Just 10 More” training, plan to join us at 6:30 on Thursday.
All precinct chairs must attend a training session and get their call sheets. Another session will be offered the following week. The time to begin working your call lists has passed, so I cannot stress the importance of starting the process! Precinct chairs are the key, essential people to reaching voters, encouraging them to vote and securing victories for our candidates. If you are not a precinct chair, you can become an administrator for one of our unorganized precincts. I will attach a list of those locations with this email. As a reminder, the district is awarding the county with the highest percentage of increase in votes $500! As an added incentive, I will personally award each precinct chair or administrator who achieves a 10% increase a $50 gift card of their choice and the chair or administrator who achieves the highest percentage increase a $100 gift card of their choice. That’s how important this election is to me, the county, the state, and the country!
August 13th, at 6:00 will be our first Executive Committee meeting in our new headquarters. We will hold an election that evening for 1st Vice Chair, 2nd Vice Chair, and a member at large. With the ongoing process of recruiting precinct chairs and administrators, there’s the possibility of electing these positions also. Currently, I’ve received the following nominations: Joshua Mashburn for 1st Vice Chair, Ellen “Cricket” Arrington-Smith for 2nd Vice Chair, and Howard “Howie” Turner for Member-at-Large. Please contact me with additional nominations and nominations will also be accepted from the floor that evening.
On August 15th, at 10:00 AM, we will hold a postcard writing drive to welcome newly registered Republican voters to the Haywood GOP. Coffee and donuts will be served. Plan on an hour or 2 to join this important effort, share a cup of coffee, and join the fellowship of your comrades completing our mission to get Republicans elected.
August 22nd is the Grand Opening of our new headquarters! The ceremony will begin at noon with dignitaries from across the state, district and county speaking. Your assistance is needed to help with merchandise sales, recruiting volunteers, food service, registering voters, distributing campaign materials, and other fun activities that day. Sign-up sheets are available at headquarters. The celebration will continue into the evening with music beginning at 4:00 PM!
On August 24th, the first annual State of the Party Gala will be held at Lake Junaluska. This distinguished event promises to be one of the most prominent Republican assemblies in North Carolina this election cycle. The event is designed to strengthen our alliances with Republican leadership at every governmental tier and reaffirm our shared commitment to the principles that guide our party. Tickets are $100/each and include an elegant dinner, followed by an informative program featuring key speakers and strategic insights, and concluding with music and dancing. Tickets can be purchased at https://secure.anedot.com/haywoodrepublicanparty/f60ee8df-a7bb-4e13-b6d1-bb402df0388a
Our office hours will be extended until the election. Plans are to be open Monday – Friday from 10 AM until 4 PM, Saturday from 11 AM until 3 PM, and possibly remaining open on Tuesdays until 6 PM. We need people to commit to working some shifts in the office. Our visibility at our new location is generating traffic with people coming in to update or register to vote, gather information on candidates, and inquire about ways to get involved. These things cannot take place if the office is not open. If you cannot commit to every week, plan to cover a few shifts a month. Sign-up sheets are available in the office, or contact Sheila Hornbostel for information.
The schedule for poll greeters is being compiled. Early voting begins October 15th at the Senior Center off Russ Avenue and the Canton Library. Our Republican candidates are depending on us to get their information in the hands of the voters and secure their victories. Be assured that the “other” party will be at the polls trying to fill voters' heads with their rhetorical lies! We need people to commit to 2-hour shifts or more at these locations and then again on November 3rd, Election Day. We have 29 precincts to man that day! This is not the time to sit back and watch the election from the sidelines. Our voices must be heard and our presence seen! The future of our country is at risk and it’s up to each one of us to secure the fate of our guiding principles, faith, family, and freedom!
As always, I welcome your comments, questions, and suggestions, and I thank you for your continued hard work and support!
